The 2023 Taipei International Travel Fair
The Taipei International Travel Fair, is Taiwan’s largest consumer-focused travel exhibition, concluded this year with an impressive 344,475 visitors during its four-day run, marking a significant recovery from the previous year.
This attendance level represented about 90 percent of the pre-pandemic 2019 figures and a 76 per cent increase from the previous year when COVID-19 restrictions were gradually easing in Asia.
The show saw robust sales, including hotels, travel agencies, and tourism operators generating over US$3.11 million in sales as consumers eagerly purchased tour packages.
As a result of the positive response from exhibitors, the association plans to expand the show next year to accommodate more participants.
The event featured 1,300 booths with 104 tourism operators, emphasising both regional and long-haul travel options, particularly to Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asian countries, Europe, and the US.
China Airlines, one of Taiwan’s major international carriers, also experienced strong sales, with ticket sales up by about 50 per cent from the previous year.
The strong turnout and high sales figures indicate a revival of interest in overseas travel among Taiwanese, with a significant return to pre-pandemic travel enthusiasm.
