ST. KITTS AND NEVIS SECURES FUNDING FOR GEOTHERMAL PROJECT

The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has secured full funding for the Federation’s first geothermal energy project. This is a ground-breaking step toward energy self-sufficiency.

The development of the St. Kitts and Nevis Geothermal Project brings the Federation closer to its goal of becoming a Sustainable Island State. The aim is to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and lower energy costs for citizens.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF GEOTHERMAL PROJECT

Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew announced the news on 6 February during a Round Table discussion. He shared that drilling for the first five geothermal wells will start soon. This marks the beginning of a new era of renewable energy leadership for the Federation.

PRIME MINISTER’S STATEMENT ON GEOTHERMAL ENERGY

“We have now secured the financing necessary to launch the geothermal project.” said Prime Minister Drew.

“This is a transformative moment for our people. Geothermal energy will provide reliable, low-cost electricity, boost economic growth, and position St. Kitts and Nevis as a leader in clean energy across the region.”

NATIONAL UNITY IN ECONOMIC PROGRESS

Dr. Drew emphasised that the geothermal project will benefit both St. Kitts and Nevis. He highlighted the Government’s commitment to national unity and economic progress.

During a recent meeting with Premier Hon. Mark Brantley, the two leaders agreed on a collaborative approach to ensure the resource’s benefits are equitably distributed across the twin-island Federation.

COMPLEMENTING THE RENEWABLE ENERGY AGENDA

This geothermal initiative complements the Government’s broader renewable energy agenda, including a 50-megawatt solar farm project. As energy costs fall, the Federation will attract new industries. It will also create job opportunities and strengthen its resilience to global energy disruptions.

LOOKING AHEAD: AFFORDABLE, SUSTAINABLE ENERGY FOR THE FUTURE

“This is a major milestone in our journey toward true energy independence.” Dr. Drew added. “The people of St. Kitts and Nevis can look forward to a future where energy is affordable, sustainable, and locally sourced.”

The Government will share further details on the timeline of the St. Kitts and Nevis Geothermal Project as well as expansion plans in the near future.

ST. KITTS AND NEVIS: A PRIME DESTINATION FOR SUSTAINABLE INVESTMENT

This geothermal project shows St. Kitts and Nevis’ progress as a sustainable nation.

Securing funding boosts the Federation’s energy independence and attracts global investors and economic citizens.

With a strong commitment to clean energy, a stable economy, and progressive leadership, St. Kitts and Nevis is an attractive place for future-focused investors.

The country’s focus on sustainability and innovation makes it a prime destination for investment, driving economic growth and improving citizens’ well-being.
