CITIZENSHIP PROGRAMME HELPS BUILD NEW HOMES IN ST. PETER’S PARISH

St. Kitts and Nevis, 15 January 2026 – Senior government officials and leaders of the Citizenship Programme visited two housing developments in St. Peter’s Parish this week, seeing first-hand how ongoing home construction for local families is taking shape.

The visit was led by Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, and Geoffrey Hanley, Deputy Prime Minister, alongside His Excellency Calvin St. Juste, Executive Chairman of the Citizenship Programme and other senior officials from relevant organizations.

The delegation toured housing sites at Gillard Meadows and Stapleton, two projects supported through Citizenship Programme funding and focused on expanding access to safe, affordable housing while creating steady work for local builders and tradespeople.

At Gillard Meadows, construction is actively underway on 12 homes, with local contractors on site as work moves steadily toward completion. At Stapleton, 18 homes are close to being finished, and the delegation toured completed units, offering a clear view of the quality and care being put into the builds.

“When people ask what the Citizenship Programme delivers, this is the answer,” said His Excellency Calvin St. Juste, Executive Chairman of the Citizenship Programme. “These are real homes, built by local hands, for families who will live here for years to come. That’s how investment should work – practical, visible, and rooted in the community.”

A defining feature of both developments is the reliance on local contractors and craftsmen, ensuring that the economic benefits of construction stay within St. Kitts and Nevis while strengthening skills and capacity across the local construction sector.

The projects are being delivered through close coordination between the Citizenship Programme, government agencies, the National Housing Corporation, ClientReferrals, and local builders – helping to keep delivery on track while maintaining clear standards and oversight.

As work continues at both sites, the Citizenship Programme and its partners remain focused on completing the homes on schedule and supporting long – term community development in St. Peter’s Parish.
