STATEMENT BY THE ST. KITTS AND NEVIS CITIZENSHIP UNIT

St. Kitts and Nevis has made substantial strides in bolstering its due diligence procedures and strengthening its regulatory systems. This unwavering dedication ensures the nation upholds the highest standards of integrity and compliance recognised internationally, forming the foundation of its citizenship programme.

The St. Kitts and Nevis Citizenship Unit is aware of recent media reports concerning a citizenship holder and matters subject to sanctions by a foreign jurisdiction.

The individual in question obtained citizenship prior to the ban on Iranian nationals in 2014 under the then-applicable policies and procedures. At that time, the relevant jurisdiction was not subject to restrictions under our citizenship programme.

In the course of the ongoing monitoring and compliance review of beneficiaries under the Programme, the Citizenship Unit became aware on 3 November 2025 of the imposition of UK sanctions.

Upon becoming aware of this development, the Citizenship Unit acted without delay. Within 24 hours, all relevant competent authorities and stakeholders were duly informed, and the appropriate procedures were initiated in full accordance with established internal protocols, international obligations, and applicable regulatory standards.

The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis takes its international responsibilities very seriously and maintains robust mechanisms to ensure compliance with evolving global standards. The Citizenship Unit operates with strict oversight, enhanced due diligence procedures, and continuous monitoring protocols.

We remain committed to transparency and cooperation with international partners in upholding the integrity of our programme and meeting our obligations under international law.

The Citizenship Unit will not comment further on individual cases but reaffirms its dedication to maintaining a programme that meets the highest standards of international best practice.
