In his closing remarks at COP28 in Dubai, our Prime Minister, Honourable Dr Terrance Drew issued a passionate call to address the escalating climate crisis.
Expressing concern over rising temperatures, he emphasised the urgency of international action to combat the global threat.
VULNERABILITY OF SMALL ISLAND STATES
Honourable Dr Terrance Drew emphasised the vulnerability of Small Island States, particularly St Kitts and Nevis, asserting that without immediate action from the international community, its survival is in jeopardy.
He acknowledged the disproportionate impact of climate change on the Global South and the Caribbean Community.
GLOBAL SOUTH UNITY
Joining forces with CARICOM and the Global South, Honourable Dr Drew urged for greater accountability and responsibility from the international community.
He warned that failure to act promptly could result in the disappearance of many Caribbean islands from history.
UAE’S RESILIENT DEVELOPMENT
As our Prime Minister highlighted the dire situation, he commended the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for setting an example of resilient development for the world.
He emphasised the importance of action and building trust.
ADVOCACY FOR INCLUSION OF TAIWAN IN UN DECISION-MAKING
Prime Minister Dr Drew advocated for the inclusion of Taiwan in crucial UN policy decisions, emphasising the need for island nations to play a significant role in the global arena.

Addressing the achievements of our country, our Prime Minister outlined St Kitts and Nevis’ commitment to becoming the first model sustainable island state.
With global collaborations, geo-strategic outlooks, and focused investments, he believes our nation can set an example for the world to follow.
TRANSITIONING TO GREEN ENERGY
Our Prime Minister discussed the development of geothermal energy in the federation, highlighting its potential to connect the two islands through pipelines.
Stating the goal of producing fully green energy, he revealed plans to invest US$350 million in the next five years to achieve this and enable the sharing of clean energy with neighbouring islands.
TRANSFORMATION OF ST KITTS AND NEVIS’ CITIZENSHIP BY INVESTMENT (CBI) PROGRAMME
On 3 December 2023 St Kitts and Nevis hosted a pivotal Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Luncheon. This gathering, attended by global partners, agents, and potential investors, included our Prime Minister and distinguished figures and ministers, marking a substantial stride in reshaping the country’s renowned CBI Programme.
PROGRAMME REFORMATION FOR INTEGRITY AND RELIABILITY
Under the leadership of our St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party Administration, the CBI Programme underwent a rigorous reformation aimed at fortifying its integrity and reliability.
Honourable Dr Terrance Drew expressed pride in the government’s swift actions and relentless focus on delivering a sustainable and trustworthy citizenship product.
COMMITMENT TO CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Prime Minister Drew emphasised the commitment to continuous improvement, declaring that the integrity of the Programme is an utmost priority. “The integrity of the programme is our priority.”
Our Head of Citizenship by Investment Unit, Mr Michael Martin, detailed pivotal changes, including mandatory interviews and stringent due diligence checks, aligning with national regulations and global best practices.[
