Dr. Clarke’s comments come as St. Kitts and Nevis prepares for a momentous Summit.
St. Kitts and Nevis’s Dr. Joyelle Clarke presented at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) on a historic all-female panel. The UNEP’s panel, featuring Dr. Clarke, was held at the 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States at the American University of Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda.
The conference was titled “Showcasing Successes and Navigating the Next Decade of Action with SIDS [Small Island Developing States].” The Sixth United Nations Environment Assembly conducted high-level discussions about future resilience and environmental goals globally. On this panel, Dr. Clarke presented the work that St. Kitts and Nevis has done to protect the environment through resilience and restoration.
She addressed the theme, ‘Effective, inclusive and sustainable multilateral actions to tackle climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution.’ Dr. Clarke noted the importance of the UN panel for women and girls in her remarks.
“Youth and women empowerment are key drivers of our Sustainable Island State Agenda,’ she noted.
Dr. Clarke’s address highlighted innovative strategies and initiatives aimed at fostering a harmonious balance between economic progress and environmental conservation on a global scale. Her insightful presentation underscored the importance of collaboration and collective action in addressing pressing environmental challenges and advancing the agenda of sustainable development. Dr. Clarke’s comments come as St. Kitts and Nevis prepares for a momentous Summit, the Investment Gateway Summit.
Held from 10 to 14 July in the St. Kitts Marriott Resort, the Summit is tapped to bring prospective and current citizens from across the globe to the country for a week of connection, collaboration and celebration.
The Summit will showcase all that the island has to offer, aided by its premier Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programme.
